PCG-CORE aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, so that everyone can find Coast Guard information and services, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
What this website does
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to main content" link.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can move through them in a logical order.
- Text is real text, never part of an image, and text colours are chosen for strong contrast.
- Layouts adapt to small screens and zoomed text without sideways scrolling.
- Motion is kept to a minimum and turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The main content and navigation work even when JavaScript is unavailable.
Known limitations
- Photographs are placeholders until verified images are supplied.
- A formal accessibility audit has not been carried out yet.
